Lenox Hill Hospital is offering a one-year non-ACGME clinical fellowship in Advanced Coronary and Minimally Invasive Robotic Cardiac Surgery for individuals who have completed a cardiothoracic training program by June 2025.
The program will be directed by Dr. Nirav Patel, an internationally renowned leader in the field of minimally invasive and coronary revascularization. This fellowship is available to individuals who have successfully completed an ACGME accredited Thoracic Surgery program or equivalent and are eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York by July 2025. In addition, individuals must have completed USMLE STEP 1 and STEP 2 as well as be ECFMG certified.Founded in 1857, Lenox Hill Hospital is a 450-bed acute care facility in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. In 1994, Lenox Hill Hospital Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery pioneered the minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass surgery. Since than the department has been continuously recognized by the New York State Department of Health for achieving better than expected outcomes in coronary artery bypass surgery and valve surgery as well as the Society of Thoracic Surgery outcomes report.
Our faculty is composed of 5 Cardiac Surgeons who are all committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of world class surgeons to provide exceptional care to the community we serve. Working alongside Dr. Patel as the Program Director and Dr. Frank Manetta as the Assistant Program Director, the non-ACGME Advanced Coronary and Minimally Invasive Robotic fellow will be exposed to and responsible for all aspects of advanced coronary and minimally invasive pre-operative evaluation and planning, operative technique, and post-operative care for the advanced coronary and minimally invasive patient. The fellow will also have clinical research responsibilities consistent with the format construct of this fellowship.
