Position Summary i2Vision, Inc. is a fast-paced healthcare communications agency based in San Diego, CA. Reporting to the CFO/COO, the HR Manager serves as a department of one, leading and executing all core human resources functions. This role operates at both a strategic and hands‑on level, partnering directly with executive leadership while supporting managers and employees across all functions. The HR Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance, building scalable HR programs, and fostering a high‑performing, positive employee experience in a growing, multi‑state organization. Compliance & Policy Management Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including California-specific regulations (FEHA, CFRA, PDL, wage and hour laws, etc.) Manage multi-state compliance for remote employees Monitor legal changes and proactively update policies, procedures, and practices Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and internal controls Own and maintain the employee handbook, ensuring annual updates and alignment with legal requirements Oversee audits and compliance activities (I‑9, Workers’ Compensation, recordkeeping) Ensure proper employee classification and advise leadership on compliant, equitable compensation practices Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead full‑cycle recruiting across all levels Develop job descriptions, manage candidate pipelines, and coordinate interviews Benchmark compensation and support offer development Partner with leadership on hiring needs and workforce planning Onboarding, Offboarding & Employee Lifecycle Design and execute onboarding programs and logistics (HRIS setup, I‑9, system access) Manage offboarding, including exit interviews, final pay compliance, and benefits transitions Ensure all employee lifecycle processes are compliant and well‑documented Employee Relations Serve as the primary advisor on employee relations matters Conduct investigations and manage sensitive issues (disciplinary actions, accommodations, terminations) Provide guidance to ensure fair, consistent, and compliant practices Maintain strict confidentiality and sound judgment Performance Management Design, lead, and manage performance review processes, including annual cycles and quarterly discussions Develop tools, templates, and frameworks for consistent performance evaluation Support managers on performance issues, including documentation and performance improvement plans (PIPs) Train managers on performance management best practices Track and report on performance metrics and outcomes Employee Development & Training Develop and deliver training programs (leadership, communication, compliance, etc.) Partner with leadership on career progression and succession planning Maintain accurate job descriptions and role definitions Support ongoing employee development and organizational effectiveness Compensation & Benefits Administer compensation programs, including benchmarking and merit increases Partner with Executive Leadership on compensation strategy and pay equity Manage benefits programs and vendor relationships (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and ancillary benefits) Administer 401(k) and lead open enrollment Oversee benefits invoicing and reconciliation HR Operations & Systems Manage HRIS (Paylocity), ensuring data accuracy and system optimization Maintain employee records, organizational structure, and compensation data Develop HR metrics, reporting, and annual HR goals (headcount, turnover, compensation analysis, development, etc.) Partner with Finance on payroll, tax notices, and Workers’ Compensation audits Culture & Employee Engagement Strategic partner to Executive Leadership in shaping company culture Monitor employee sentiment and identify areas for improvement Develop and lead initiatives to enhance engagement, retention, and workplace experience Provide insights and recommendations on organizational health and culture trends HR Strategy & People Operations Partner with the CEO and CFO/COO to align HR strategy with business objectives Develop HR reporting and analytics to support decision‑making Lead key HR initiatives and process improvements Identify and implement tools and systems to improve HR efficiency and scalability Lead organizational design, job architecture, and leveling frameworks Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience; prior experience as an HR department of one or in a broad generalist role strongly preferred Deep knowledge of California employment law and multi‑state compliance Experience managing employee relations, recruiting, training, and HR operations HRIS experience required (Paylocity preferred) Experience in professional services, healthcare, or agency environments preferred Certifications: SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent Work Environment & Schedule This is a hybrid role based in San Diego, CA, requiring both on‑site and remote work. The HR Manager is expected to be on‑site as needed for employee meetings, onboarding, investigations, and key HR initiatives.
