Job Description

Title: Instructional Designer

Location: Winchester, VA / Pensacola FL (Hybrid)

Duration: 06+ Months Contract

Job Description:

Plan and oversee instructional design initiatives within a business unit and across the organization. Design and develop learning solutions aligned with specific learning objectives and audience needs. Partner with stakeholders to implement effective training strategies that enhance employee performance. Apply diverse instructional methods to structure and deliver engaging content. Build curricula by rapidly analyzing large volumes of information and conducting thorough research. Continuously support organizational training requirements and update materials throughout their lifecycle. Operate with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to trainers based on course evaluation outcomes
  • Work collaboratively to design and develop courses and curricula, ensuring content accuracy and proper functioning of multimedia elements
  • Conduct needs assessments at the request of business leaders to create customized training solutions or targeted coaching
  • Develop and manage LMS content, including creating learning activities, assigning training, and generating reports
  • Produce engaging instructional materials using modern tools and technologies to enhance learning effectiveness and reduce errors
  • Design and test course content, simulations, graphics, and other technology-enabled learning products
  • Develop classroom, virtual, and self-paced training programs that effectively transfer knowledge and drive behavior change
  • Create instructional strategies and learning solutions for business units or organization-wide initiatives
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, materials, and delivery methods
  • Participate in complex instructional design projects involving multiple deliverables and varying levels of risk
  • Determine the most suitable instructional approach, including blended learning formats
  • Choose or adapt design models based on project requirements and analyze learning needs to define clear objectives
  • Train internal teams on the use of instructional materials, including ILT and VILT formats
  • Incorporate feedback, assessments, and evaluation data into ongoing and future course improvements
  • Deliver presentations to diverse audiences, including leadership teams
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a related field, or equivalent education
  • Strong understanding of instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles
  • Experience in eLearning development
  • Proficiency in Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Experience converting instructor-led training into self-paced learning modules
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and workflows
  • Strong skills in organizing and presenting information clearly
  • Experience evaluating training effectiveness and delivery methods
  • Proven ability to research and develop instructional content, including multimedia and technology-driven materials
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional theories, educational psychology, and learning tools
  • Familiarity with designing courses for products, processes, or skill development
  • Proficiency in database, presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex processes into clear, user-friendly content
  • Strong collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Ability to assess training needs and research topics for course creation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including handling challenging situations with professionalism
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
