Position Summary
The employee in this position will perform a variety of Locksmith duties. The employee is responsible for maintaining the campus great‑grand‑master keying system. Duties include setting up new keying systems within the existing great‑grand‑master system and keeping accurate records both manually & electronically. The employee also rebuilds, repairs, and installs a variety of locking devices, door closers, window and door locking systems, ADA door opener devices, door hardware, and panic exit devices. The employee occasionally provides support for a variety of Carpenter / Plumber / Painter and other general maintenance tasks on campus infrastructure.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. North Carolina Locksmith License.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
High school graduate and minimum 2-3 years’ experience in one or more facility trades operations including: Locksmith/Carpenter/Plumber/Painter/HVAC; or equivalent field experience.
Ability to comprehend construction drawings and electrical schematics.
Electronic locksmith experience: installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic locks and access control systems, including programming, troubleshooting, and managing key systems.
Ability to operate welding and soldering equipment and basic power equipment and properly utilize mechanics hand tools.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Schedule And Hours
Normal working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Employees are subject to emergency call‑in nights and weekends.
