CarePartners is seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse Extern PRN to support our Healthcare & Medical Services team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. As a Nurse Extern, you will work under the supervision of registered nurses and clinical leaders to provide direct and indirect patient care, assist with daily living activities, obtain vital signs, and support clinical procedures in alignment with physician and RN instructions. You will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team, including nurses, physicians, therapists, and support staff, to ensure safe, coordinated, and efficient care for patients. In this PRN role, you will have flexible, as-needed scheduling, which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on unit needs. Aligned with CarePartners’ mission to improve community health through collaboration, compassion, and coordinated services, the Nurse Extern PRN will contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and continuous learning. You will engage in hands-on clinical experience while still in nursing school, helping to build your skills in assessment, documentation, communication, and basic clinical interventions. Responsibilities may include assisting patients with hygiene and mobility, monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition, accurately documenting care in the electronic health record, and following infection control and safety protocols at all times. You will also support patient and family education by reinforcing teaching provided by RNs and providers, and by responding to questions with empathy and professionalism. This position is ideal for a nursing student who is eager to expand clinical competence in a supportive, real-world setting while contributing meaningfully to patient care. The Nurse Extern PRN will be expected to uphold professional standards of conduct, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate strong teamwork, time management, and communication skills. In partnership with experienced nurses, you will have the opportunity to observe and assist with various clinical procedures, participate in hand-off reports, and gain insight into coordinated care across the continuum.
